STINGRAY

Scientific name: Dasyatis Sephen

These galuchat skins come from Indonesian and Sri Lankan seas. The flesh of this fish is a food product. Stingray fishing and trade are not subject to any particular international regulation.

Stingray skin is transformed into shagreen in a traditional artisanal French process. Many stages of sanding silica pearls on its surface are needed to carry out the metamorphosis of this skin into a polished and shiny mosaic. The finish of the stripes of the frame highlight the pearly and graphic texture of the galuchat.

  • The beads of silica are highly resistant.

  • The color of the leather will darken with sebum and exposition to UV rays.

  • The quantities available are very limited.

Leather care instructions

Clean your frame with natural soap, especially to remove spots or an excess of oil:

  • Place the frame directly under cold water while massaging the leather to help it absorb the water.

  • Apply scent-free natural soap on the front and the branches for a few minutes. You can use Marseille soap or soap made specially for leather.

  • Rinse thoroughly.

  • Dry the frame by patting it with a clean cloth.

  • Let it dry completely overnight.

Remove traces of make-up from the leather:

  • Put some micellar water on the tip of a cotton swab. Remove any excess water and clean the leather.

Remove a scratch on the leather:

  • Massage the leather with your finger and the soft part of your fingernail or with a flat rounded object.
